Focus of Research:
  • Molluscan Resource Management
  • Bivalve Mariculture
  • Aquatic environment monitoring (Marine)
Background:

Since July 1996 till date, working as Scientist in Molluscan Fisheries Division of CMFRI, focusing on Molluscan fisheries management, bivalve Mariculture and environmental monitoring

Under the mandated activities of the Institute, collaborates to address the Stock assessment issues at regional levels (Karnataka) by assessing and monitoring wild cephalopod stocks and bivalve resources commercially exploited along the coast.

Involved in disseminating scientific bivalve farming techniques, incorporating location specific refinements resulting in adoption and commercialization of the mussel farming activities in the region

Monitored the environmental health status of the shellfish harvesting areas along southwest coast of India based on the tissue burden of chemical contaminants in bivalves, microbial indicators and biomarker response for initiating classification of shellfish waters
